Police clearance certificate
The certificate people need to travel or live abroad. The application is online on the police portal, and the fee goes through a treasury challan.

The official portal publishes no fixed day count; the certificate issues once the address verification is done
Your present address must match the address in your passport, and the passport must be valid for at least 3 more months. For uses inside Bangladesh (such as employment), the portal says to contact the concerned district DSB or city Special Branch office directly.

One caveat
Search results still turn up the old figure of 500 taka, but the police’s own portal now states 1,500. Check the amount on the portal before paying. Applicable service charges on card or bank payments are separate from the fee.
